The Wish Granter
Her name traces back to the time of the Puritans, who used Desire as a given name, meaning desired or wished.
Write your wish on a piece of paper and hide it in her belly, she will grant your wishes... if she feels like it!
The first in a series of Wish Granters that Cindy is working on.
Sculpture: Cindy Chinn
Date: Sept 2007

My Friend Pam Hoge, a very talented artist, showed me a Wish Granter that she had made out of a gourd box ... This was the inspiration or should I say I ripped off her idea, that was inspired through a class that she took with Lucky Stradley, another gifted artist in the area...

Starting with a gourd, making an armature out of aluminum wire I sculpted the body. I was only going to sculpt the head, hands and feet... I got a bit carried away, as I always do.

I was very happy with how the skin looked without painting it- so I just added some detail, like darkening the moles and adding veins and clear coated it with a matt clear coat. |

Here, I still need to finish turning the hair into dreadlocks, attach the cloak, and set her on her pink marble base.
Now that I look at it, I think that I will change the pen too... I'm thinking feather! |
