Pont Alexandre III - Paris

One of the things I love about Paris is that you don't have to go inside the museums to see great works of art. There are countless examples of what would (these days) be called public art, but when they were created, this is just how they built things.

Pont Alexandre III is a bridge that crosses the Seine. Finished in 1900, it offers a great range of sculptures that adorn it on all sides. What I have posted on the right is just one example of the detail and look of this marvelous sight meant to symbolize the French and Russian Alliance.

This is just one fantastic example of why Paris is a city for wanderers. Paris cannot be seen from a tourist bus, it needs to be felt with all the senses. You need to freedom to explore what is around that next corner.

Paris is great for turning bridges into works of art, and a simple cheese sandwich into a culinary delight. Go there, and be prepared to absorb the sights, sounds, smells and tastes of this great city.
