The Luxor during construction

There's nothing like going to the desert and seeing that they are building a pyramid. During the construction boom in Las Vegas during the 1990's, one of the most uncommon looking hotels was built. The Luxor Hotel and Casino is full of "world's biggest" from the largest atrium to the most powerful beam of light shot out the top.

In general, Vegas has always recieved a bad rap for the architecture, but it is original - over the top, but original. I stayed at the Luxor the week it opened, which coincided with the MGM Grand's opening. Even back then, it seemed that Vegas had enough hotel rooms, but how many thousands have been added since?
